Summer Time is Here!

Summer time is here and that only means we need to cool off on a budget. I went around the DFW area and found locations to have fun with the family and/or friends without breaking the bank.

A location that was referred to me was Sharkarosa Wildlife in Pilot Point, Texas. Only Northwest from Little Elm we arrived at this calm and soothing wildlife ranch first thing in the morning. We saw beautiful horses, pigs, lamas, adorable lemurs, kangaroos, spunky goats, and many more precious animals. This was a fantastic 2-3-hour adventure, keeping it in the budget, and close enough to home to make it back for lunch.

Another way to keep your kids entertained are water parks. Check your nearest recreational pool center to take the kids for a few hours. They will have fun and you will still have change left over for snow cones!

The library is a way to venture out of the house for some quiet time. The kids might say no at first to the library trip but once you arrive you won’t hear a peep for at least an hour. This means nap time for you (wink wink), catch up with your romantic novel, or just catch up on your boring emails while the kids read a new book. Either way, everyone gets a little quiet time for free!

As much as we love our little ones, adults need their own fun during the summer heat. If you like to dance then try D.S.D.S. (Dallas Swing Dance Society). Most of the time we get use to the same routine, the same hang out place, ordering the same cocktail, or being a couch potato. This dance will make you feel like you are in a different era. This is a wonderful place you can test your dancing skills, let loose, and meet new friends! Or choose another location to take a salsa dancing class, country line lesson, or any dance lesson.  Just get out occasionally and break your routine without breaking the piggy bank.

Camping in this heat can be rewarding! Make a trip out to a close lake with close friends for a few days. Lake Texhoma in Oklahoma or a short road trip to Tyler State Park is a couple of  beautiful places to camp. Rent a cabin or two within the group and be creative! Again, another cheap trip and loads of fun with close friends will be a life time memory.

These are just a few places in mind to to cool off for the summer. Try something new and most important have fun!
